A Testament to Tenacity and Terroir

The climatic narrative of 2002 was one of resilience; a testing season for many in Bordeaux that called for precision and mastery in viticulture. It is against this backdrop that the 2002 Chateau Gazin asserts itself—not as a brute force but as a finely etched depiction of its storied terroir, where the embattled vines yielded fruit of surprising concentration and poise.

Refined Elegance—a Vintage Character

With two decades of maturation, the 2002 Chateau Gazin has unfurled in layers, each one more tantalizing than the last. A reserved nose opens delicately, suggesting plums and an earthy truffle essence—signature notes of Pomerol—while on the palate, it progresses with a measured cadence. The tannins, once youthful and robust, now support the wine like the venerable branches of an aged oak: with quiet strength and dignified grace.

For the astute connoisseur considering wine investment opportunities, this vintage is a meticulously crafted piece from Chateau Gazin's mosaic of vintages. Its evolution paints not only a picture of the 2002 season but also showcases the adaptive genius of Pomerol winemakers when faced with capricious elements.

Gazing upon this liquid gemstone, one cannot help but be enamoured by its intricate composition—a meritorious testament to what can be achieved in even the less heralded years. Investable? Indubitably. The 2002 Chateau Gazin embodies not just a single season in time but an enduring legacy—and so it shall remain as it continues to reveal hidden facets with each passing year.

Impressively fruity, but soft, short, shallow, and superficial, the deep plum/ruby-colored 2002 exhibits a perfumed bouquet of spice box, black cherries, plums, and new oak. A supple attack and attractive mid-palate are followed by a narrow finish with light to moderate tannin. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2015.
