By Chateau Valandraud

2000 Chateau Valandraud from Chateau Valandraud, Saint-Emilion, Bordeaux

A masterstroke of viticulture and vinification, the 2000 Chateau Valandraud is an embodiment of the millennium's benevolent climate bestowed upon the Bordeaux’s Right Bank. The exceptional weather conditions of the 2000 vintage heralded a new era for Chateau Valandraud, marking it as a pivotal year for investors and connoisseurs alike.

An Exemplar of the Millennial Vintage

The turn of the century saw a glorious alliance of environment and effort at Chateau Valandraud. Aptly ripened Merlot, bolstered by judicious portions of Cabernet Franc, found harmony in the chalky soils and mild weather of Saint-Emilion. It was this marriage that culminated in a vintage with graceful poise—one which captures both the effervescence of youth and the solemn promise of age.

Complexity and Charm: A Collector's Delight

Notably generous in its aromatic bouquet, the 2000 Chateau Valandraud beguiles with an intricate perfume of black cherries, ripe plums, and a dusting of sweet spices. The palate revels in luscious layers of fruit, deftly enrobed in seasoned oak—a testament to its artful maturation. Tannins unfurl with silkiness, indicative of a wine that has gently trodden into its peak drinking window but continues to hint at a plateau of magnificence yet to be fully unveiled.

For fine wine investors, the 2000 vintage from Chateau Valandraud is not only an asset with commendable growth potential but also a symbol of Bordeaux’s unparalleled ability to produce wines that resonate with both finesse and fortitude.

In conclusion, this enchanting elixir stands as one of the most captivating expressions of Saint-Emilion terroir from the heralded 2000 vintage. A cornerstone in any discerning collector's portfolio, the 2000 Chateau Valandraud continues to be a quintessential exemplar among fine wine investments.

Tasted at the Valandraud vertical at the property, the 2000 Valandraud has a very dark color with just a thin crimson rim. The bouquet is exquisite: intense black cherry and blackcurrant scents, sandalwood, cedar and spices, complex and involving, the aromatics appear to just grow and grow. The palate is medium-bodied with supple red and black fruit, fine tannins and perfect acidity. It feels backward but very tensile with a flow of energy towards the precise and deeply impressive finish. This is an outstanding millennial Saint Emilion from Jean-Luc Thunévin. Tasted December 2016.
