Smoky and earthy, with copious jammy cassis fruit and sweet tannin, this is an excellent, full-bodied Saint-Pierre. The saturated deep purple color is followed by a persistent, concentrated wine with copious sweet tannin. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2020.

Tasted at the Syndicat de Pomerol. The nose on the Chateau St. Pierre '00 is well defined with the Cabernet Franc dominating the aromatics, lending a smoky, almost nutty element to the nose. The palate is well defined with fine tannins, ripe cherries and walnut, a little pinched towards the finish and perhaps not showing the persistency of the '01. Not bad at all. Tasted December 2010.
