Distinct Attributes of the 2009 Vintage

The 2009 genealogy in Burgundy is characterised by an amiable spring followed by summertime warmth, endowing grapes with excellent ripeness juxtaposed against a backbone of Meursault's classic minerality. This particular vintage of Meursault Genevrieres exhibits nuances of ripe apricot and toasted hazelnut, entwined with a subtle infusion of vanilla - nods to both nature's benevolence and the deft oak management at Domaine Coche-Dury.

On the palate, one finds a balance perhaps unmatched in previous years – a blend of Meursault's trademark butteriness seamlessly interlaced with an acidity that lifts the wine, lending it longevity and structure that prudent investors seek. The finish is long; it carries whispers of limestone minerality that testify to the Genevrieres terroir.

An encounter with the 2009 Meursault Genevrieres from Domaine Coche-Dury is rarely fleeting. It lingers not just on the palate but in memory, its layers and texture unfolding like a seasoned tale. For those seeking to embellish their portfolio with a standout vintage, this opulent yet meticulously structured Chardonnay represents an incontrovertible choice. The 2009 Meursault Genevrières is well-defined on the nose and seems quite rich vis-à-vis other vintages. But that does not obstruct the minerality and detail, which hints of brioche and popcorn that enhance its extravagance. The palate is well-balanced with very good weight: candied orange peel, citrus lemon, touches of hazelnut with a dense, almost introspective finish that will surely come out from under its shell with time. Give this another 3-4 years in bottle.
