An Era Embodied: The Quintessence of Terroir

The 1997 Meursault Perrieres encapsulates not just an exceptional growing season but also carries the indelible signature of its prestigious provenance. One finds in its golden hues, the stirring clarity of minerality – a hallmark of a formidable terroir impeccable translated into bottle form. Winemaking prowess melded with a benign climate to gestate a vintage of remarkable complexity, underlying which one detects whispers of toasted hazelnut, a stroke of honeycomb, and that distinctive Meursault lustre – much akin to finely woven silk catching the early morning light.

An exercise in balance and poise, this wine capably navigates the intricate dance between opulence and precision. With ageing, a mellowed buttercream character sashays gracefully along a spine of vivacious acidity unique to this standout year.

The Meursault Perrieres displays lovely aromas of candied limes, lemons, minerals, rocks, and smoke. This is a hugely rich, medium-to-full-bodied, viscously-textured wine. It has great class and enormous elegance to its peach, stone, earth, clay, and red berry-filled flavor profile. Were it not for an austere and lightly dusty finish I would have been even more enamored by this offering's rich panoply of flavors and exquisite texture. Projected maturity: 2001-2007+.
