2006 Vosne Romanee Clos du Chateau from Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair

Amidst Burgundy's hallowed vineyards, the 2006 Vosne Romanee Clos du Chateau from Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair heralds from a plot steeped in the annals of viticultural aristocracy. An embodiment of finesse and nobility, this vintage resonates with the whispers of its foregone brethren yet sings a solo of distinction.

A Tryst with Terroir's Benevolence

The climatic idiosyncrasies of 2006 coaxed out a rarity from this esteemed parcel in Vosne-Romanée. A moderate season, graced by occasional warm gusts, crafted a stage for the Pinot Noir grapes that, with their roots entwined in chalky soils, performed an act of subtle intensity. Whilst typical years may dazzle with opulence, the 2006 Vosne Romanee Clos du Chateau is a masterclass in restraint and poise.

A Vintage That Confides, Not Confronts

In every sip of this noble concoction, one finds understated power laced with the poetics of earthiness distinctive to the locale. The nuanced dance between red fruit compote and a hint of sous-bois in its olfactory delivery sets off a symphony, resonating long on the palate after each sip. A considered use of oak serves not as an overture but as an interlude that ushers in complexities adored by aficionados and investors alike.

Beneath its aromatic veil lie the whispering tannins that have mellowed gracefully over time affording balance and promising further potential—a pivotal consideration for any serious investiture into fine wines.

An Inveigling Elixir Distinctly Worth Pursuit

For connoisseurs venturing to cultivate an enviable cellar or investors seeking to adorn their portfolio with enigmatic jewels, the 2006 Vosne Romanee Clos du Chateau from Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair is unyieldingly persuasive. It cradles the past within its depths, whilst articulating a verse unique to 2006—a vintage that confides its tales intimately to those willing to listen.

In sum, this wine is a testament to a vintage where nature conspired beautifully with human mastery—the 2006 refrains from opulent fanfare yet reaches heights profound. Let it grace your collection and be assured of both deep appreciation and potential fruitful returns.

Tasted at the Comte Liger-Belair vertical at the Château de Vosne. The 2006 Vosne-Romanée Clos du Château has a straight-laced bouquet compared to the 2005, linear and correct, with raspberry and blood orange aromas developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, dried orange peel and a pinch of white pepper, though, unlike the 2005, there is a touch of dryness appearing on the finish. I would drink this before the 2005. Tasted June 2015.
