The 2015 Chambertin Grand Cru was showing just a touch of reduction on the nose, although underneath are very powerful, mainly black fruit, undergrowth and graphite-like scents. There is immense, quite beguiling precision on display here. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannin with blood orange infusing the black and blue fruit, saline in the mouth with touches of brown spice on the long and persistent finish. It is a confident, forthright and rather aristocratic Chambertin...which is exactly how it should be.
