Tasting Notes: A Vintage with Singular Character

Upon tasting, the 2011 Clos de la Roche murmurs of the vintage’s eccentric weather pattern—ripe yet remarkably fresh, painting a storied narrative on one's palate. It flirts with wild berries and subtle earthy underbrush tones, its bouquet suffused with overtones of dried rose petals and a delicate hint of spice—characteristics developed through exceptional viticulture practice and lightly toasted oak barrels in which it matured.

The tannins are well-integrated, indicative of proper ageing potential yet approachable now—a testament to Domaine Dujac's mastery over their craft. Elegantly structural, it draws the fine line between power and finesse—a flagbearer for the unique attributes of this memorable vintage.

For investors seeking wines that encapsulate the singular narrative of their vintage while promising rewarding complexity over time, the 2011 Clos de la Roche from Domaine Dujac emerges as a compelling contender.

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. There are discernable, quite potent stem-like scents on the nose of Dujac’s Clos de la Roche: clearly some whole bunch here but it is not fully integrated at present. Still, there is admirable intensity and it remains fresh and interesting. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly coarse tannins on the entry. The acidity is well judged, although the saline finish feels a little astringent and green at the moment. This probably needs more time to harmonize and coalesce.
