Unveiling the Vintage's Veil

Nestled in the prestigious enclave of Vosne-Romanée, the 1995 Vosne Romanee Cros Parantoux reveals a tapestry woven with meticulous care. Throughout 1995, Burgundy experienced a season that vine-growers might dream about – balanced weather patterns led to an unhurried ripening period which imbued the grapes with a rare synchrony of phenolic and sugar maturation. The consequence? A wine replete with poise and depth richer than many of its forebears.

Seductive Sophistication: The Investment-Worthy Profile

Aromatically, the '95 vintage is a sensual dalliance of dark cherries, nuanced by undercurrents of truffle and a delicate spiciness - so indicative of its ancestry. On sipping, it betrays layers of complexity; blackcurrant pastilles cavort with more savoury tones on a palatial stage set by finely-grained tannins that hint at unrivalled longevity. This wine's corporeal structure, coupled with its elusive ethereal qualities, marks the '95 Cros Parantoux from Domaine Emmanuel Rouget as an investment candidate of great potential and charm.

Reflecting on this vintage after decades under cork, one cannot help but be enamoured by how it has matured gracefully into an effulgent beacon of Burgundian majesty. The 1995 Vosne Romanee Cros Parantoux offers a cellar-worthy centrepiece that promises further evolution, revealing shades of its character yet unseen with even more time.

For connoisseurs and investors alike, this Cros Parantoux from Rouget merits close attention – an exemplary '95 that heralds not only its esteemed lineage but also perpetuates its legend through each subsequent revelation on decanting.

If this bottle was representative, then Rouget’s 1995 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Cros Parantoux has not aged gracefully. A muddled, overripe nose of prune, licorice, espresso and grilled meat is followed by a bitter, disjointed and fully mature wine showing a bit of uncovered oak tannin on the back end. This is a far cry from Jayer’s wines, as it is from Rouget’s more recent vintages, and at the exorbitant tariff that this wine commands, buyer beware.
