The 2009 Latricières-Chambertin from Domaine Leroy, Burgundy

In the realm of fine wines, few possess the enchanting allure of Burgundy's reds, and within this esteemed category, the 2009 Latricières-Chambertin from Domaine Leroy stands as one of the most compelling offerings for discerning palates and investors alike.

A Vintage Defined by Elegance and Longevity

The 2009 vintage in Burgundy was marked by a particularly harmonious growing season. A gentle spring was followed by a summer that managed both warmth and balance, allowing the grapes to ripen fully, yet not excessively. It is these optimal conditions that shaped the Latricières-Chambertin from Domaine Leroy into a wine of exquisite concentration and finesse.

An Oenophile's Treasure

Tasting the 2009 Latricières-Chambertin reveals a symphony of complex aromas: hints of ripe cherries and blackberries mingle with an undercurrent of earthy truffle and gentle spice. On the palate, this wine exhibits a profound depth without forsaking the ethereal lightness that is so characteristic of Burgundy's finest Pinot Noir. The interplay of robust fruit and refined tannins promises a remarkable ageing potential—a keystone for any serious investment.

Investors will be pleased to note that Domaine Leroy's reputation for meticulous viticulture and minimal intervention elevates their wines to a status of rarity and collectability. A bottle such as this not only holds potential for financial appreciation but also represents a storied chapter in Burgundy's illustrious oenological narrative.

Connoisseurship Meets Investment Acumen

In conclusion, the 2009 Latricières-Chambertin captures an impeccable blend of terroir-expression and vintage-character. Domaine Leroy's masterful approach shines through each sip of this storied wine. To savour it now is to indulge in its youthful vivacity; to cellar it is to anticipate the height of sophistication that only time can bestow. For those poised at the intersection of passion and investment, this offering promises to be both a pleasure on the palate and a pillar in any well-curated portfolio.

The 2009 Latricieres-Chambertin explodes from the wine with layers of black fruit that totally saturate the palate. It is a rich, dazzling Burgundy endowed with tons of class and sheer personality. The fruit shows multiple dimensions of expression in a rich, textured style that is immensely appealing. All of the elements build effortlessly to the big finish. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2034. This was my first opportunity to taste the 2009s from Domaine Leroy in bottle. Lalou Bize-Leroy was among the first, if not the first, to bottle her 2009s, so she naturally wanted to give the wines some time to recover before showing them. The wines are stunning. Readers who have an opportunity to taste them should not hesitate. As always, the style is one of textural richness and depth, but the2009s appear to have excellent underlying material as well. The attention to every detail at the Domaine is quite evident in these thrilling wines. My visit ended with a sample of the 2010 Chambertin from barrel. Why not go straight to the top? If that wine is representative of the year, Leroy fans will have another superb vintage to look forward to, although yields will be lower than the already minuscule production.
